Harry Potter actress Emma Watson, who is frequently pictured sashaying down red carpets in a variety of towering stilettos, has claimed she owns only eight pairs of shoes.
Given that she has a £24 million fortune and luxury homes in London, New York and France, such parsimonious behaviour beggars belief.
Ms Watson, who often tops the best-dressed lists in fashion magazines, made the claim in an interview published this week about her new film “The Bling Ring”, in which she plays one of a real-life gang of thieves who raided celebrities’ homes for their designer clothes.

A little while back, the Harry Potter heroine ranked as the No. 2 most powerful female character, second only to Jane Eyre. Now she’s been picked by fans to be the best role model in the movies.
Harry Potter‘s best friend Hermione Granger, played by Emma Watson, has been voted the best big-screen role model in a poll of young film fans.
The brainy student picked up 19 per cent of the votes, reported Daily Star online.
It was followed by Charlie Bucket (16 per cent), who wins a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, followed by another Roald Dahl creation, Matilda Wormwood (15 per cent).
Sam Wainstein from children’s charity Filmclub, who carried out the poll, said, “Films can have a powerful influence on the way children behave. We hope our list will help parents when it comes to choosing films.”
It seems like people love brainy, book-reading girls, as shown by Matilda Wormwood coming in third place. And that’s a decidedly good thing.
The Harry Potter action figures may not look exactly like the actors, but these sure do now.
Have you ever been really excited to pick up an action figure or collectible doll only to look at the face and go, “meh?” (Except for that Tom Hiddleston/Loki doll, good god.) While the creators of these figures usually spend a lot of time coming up with something that looks similar to the actor who played the part, they’ve got nothing on Noel Cruz. He painstakingly repaints the faces of some already pricey dolls (Hot Toys, Tonner, etc.) to give them the realistic look we all wanted in the first place. If you like what you see, you can try and commission one from him but prepare yourself – 12 inch dolls start at $1000. He does a lot of pop-culture work but take a look at what he’s done with the characters from Harry Potter, Twilight, The Lord of the Rings, and more.
It’s like the actors shrunk. Which one is your favorite? I’m rooting for Voldemort, that’s just creepily realistic.
Severus, I was beginning to worry that you had lost your way.
I’m back! Just returned and I am ready to catch up on some Potter news! To start off, I was wondering if any of you looked up to anyone in the series, and why.
My answer is Hermione because I admire her loyalty, independence, and intelligence. I am a bit of a nerd, so she is a good character to look up to.
I also am fond of Ginny for her strength and resilience in spite of her troubles.
