Rupert Grint possible replacement for Matt Smith in ‘Doctor Who’

In the wake of the BBC announcement yesterday that current Time Lord, matt Smith, has quit Doctor Who, rumours have been running wild with who might be next to take a place in the Tardis Hall of Fame.

And now, as The Mirror newspaper reports, the front runners could well be Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, who played Ron in the hot film series,  and Him & Her star Russell Tovey, with both actors being placed by bookies at 10/1 favourites!

What do you think of our favorite redhead in the iconic role (besides, of course, that the doctor will finally get his wish of being a ginger)?

Rupert’s CBS sitcom rejected! Here’s the scoop:

Rupert Grint, famed for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movie franchise, announced a few months ago that he was to star in a one-camera sitcom called Super Clyde, to air on CBS. Grint was to play an mild-mannered fast-food worker that decides that he wants to become a superhero.

Entertainment Weekly gave us a few pointers on why it should have worked, and why it didn’t.

Why it SHOULD have worked:

Fun idea, and the Harry Potter star seems like a natural for a TV sitcom.

Why it DIDN’T work:

CBS was high on Grint, and still is. But the concept was deemed off-brand for the network and the net’s other comedies came in strong. Plus, successful comedy blocks are about creating flow, and there was also nothing compatible that CBS had to pair it with.

What do you think? Would you have watched Super Clyde? Tell us in the comments below!

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly for the heads up!

Guide to Grint: Rupert pursues new projects

While the “Ron” actor seemed to take a break from fame compared to the busy schedules of his costars, he has a lot of exciting ventures in the works.

Check out this new pic of Rupert Grint as Cheetah Chrome for CBGB!

Also starring Ashley Greene as Lisa Kristal, the flick tells the story of Hilly Kristal (Alan Rickman) and his New York club from its conceit as a venue for Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB) to what it ultimately became: the birthplace of underground rock ‘n roll and punk.

When Kristal had difficulty booking country bands in his club on the Bowery he opened his doors to other kinds of rock music. Kristal had one demand of the acts he booked; they could only play original music. No top 40s, no covers. It was the credo he lived by, support the artist at whatever the cost.

CBGB is set to open later this year.

This little-known film will star not one, but two Harry Potter actors!

At the beginning of World War II, a hostile chance encounter in the skies above the harsh Norwegian wilderness leaves two aircraft—one British, one German—shot down in a remote and isolated region. By strange coincidence, the crews seek shelter in the same cabin. They must battle to survive the brutal winter in order to get back to the war—and to fighting one another. Although war has made them enemies, as the days go by, animosity proves hard to maintain. Mutual need leads to unlikely friendships, and the rules of war must be put aside.

Into the White is now available On Demand and in theaters.
