Sirius Black and the Secret Keeper – It All Begins!

An official press release has been sent out for the new web series Sirius Black and the Secret Keeper, a fanmade Harry Potter prequel. Few details have been released about the series, which follows Sirius Black in his pre-Azkaban days. However, there is a very cool poster!

Sirius Black and the Secret Keeper

The project is a major triumph for director Adam VillaSensor, who suffered a form a short-term amnesia after an accident this past New Years Eve:

“Try waking up in 2012, thinking your still in 2008 and everyone’s telling you you’re a filmmaker and you’ve shot a prequel to Harry Potter. I thought… what am I? Crazy?”

However, Adam is not crazy! Sirius Black and the Secret Keeper will premiere at Ascendio in two short days! Get all of the details here!

Angela Rizza’s fantastic Harry Potter art

Artist Angela Rizza has created some pretty unique Harry Potter fan art.  We’ve seen fan art in many different styles, but nothing quite like this.  I think io9 describe it quite fittingly:

Angela Rizza’s intricate illustrations take a different tack, rendering our hero as a stern-faced figure of myth, a high wizard in a hooded sweatshirt.

Looking at the two images of Harry below you can see just how distant he seems to be.  He’s looking straight ahead and doesn’t appear to be focusing on anything.  The Harry we know is far more warm than the one depicted in the illustrations.

This first illustration is titled The Prisoner of Azkaban.  We can see why as a number of  elements from the story are represented here such as the full moon and Animagi, along with a stone-faced Harry.

This one is called The Half-blood Prince.  What do you think of Harry’s glasses here?  To me they have a futuristic look to them.  And notice how he’s holding his wand in the same position as in the previous illustration.

This final one is titled The Goblet of Fire.  This one is Harry-free but we do have the hedge maze with the strategically placed Triwizard cup in the center as an ominous (and intricate!) dark mark looms above it.

If you like these illustrations you can purchase them from Angela Rizza’s store on Etsy.

Battle of Hogwarts Timeline

May 1, 1998

-They are caught by Alecto Carrow, whom they thwart. Professor McGonagall arrives and offers them help.

-Headmaster Severus Snape is thwarted and escapes from the castle

-Preparations for battle begin. All wizards under the age of 17 are ordered to evacuate, though many choose to stay, and magical protection, such as McGonagall’s suits of armor, are set up.

-Voldemort broadcasts his voice over Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the surrounding area. He promises Harry that if he gives himself up quietly, he will let his friends go free. Harry is stopped from accepting by all of the students, excepting the Slytherins.

-The battle commences. Many students are killed.

-Harry continues to search for the Horcrux. He is led to the Grey Lady by Nearly Headless Nick.

-The Grey Lady, the ghost of Helena Ravenclaw, reveals the story of the Diadem.

-Harry realizes the location of the diadem, and returns to the Room of Requirement, where Ron and Hermione share a passionate kiss. They also reveal that they have destroyed Helga Hufflepuff’s cup.

-They empty out the Room of Requirement, and it transforms into the room for Hidden Objects.

-Upon finally locating the diadem, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are set upon by Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, and Gregory Goyle.  Crabbe accidentally sets off Fiendfyre.

-Though the Fiendfyre kills Crabbe, it also destroys the diadem, leaving Nagini and Harry as the only Horcruxes left.

May 2, 1998

-Lord Voldemort announces that his Death Eaters are to retreat, and he gives the fighters for Hogwarts one hour to peaceably mourn their dead. He again promises to Harry that if he gives himself up, he will save his friends.

-Harry uses his special connection with Lord Voldemort’s mind to find out where he is. He realizes that he is in the Shrieking Shack.

-Harry, Ron, and Hermione witness Snape’s murder at the hands of Lord Voldemort. In his last dying breath, he entrusts his memory to Harry.

-Harry sprints to the headmaster’s office, where he views the memories in the pensive, and discovers Snape’s unconditional love for his mother.

-Harry also realizes that he has to die before Lord Voldemort can fall. He proceeds, by himself, to the Forbidden Forest, where Lord Voldemort has relocated to.

-He discovers the secrets of the Snitch, and inside finds the Resurrection Stone. He uses it to reincarnate images of his mother, Lily, his father, James, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin, who protect him on his way to Lord Voldemort.

-Lord Voldemort, upon toying with Harry, proceeds to kill him.

-Harry wakes up in a white room, which is later revealed to look like King’s Cross Station. He locates the remnants of Lord Voldemort’s soul.

-He has a long and meaningful chat with Albus Dumbledore, who explains to him why Harry had to die, and tells Harry that he must return.

-Harry returns, it seems, from the dead, with Narcissa Malfoy leaning over him, asking if Draco is alive. When he says yes, she lies to Lord Voldemort, saying that Harry is dead.

-Harry is taken back to the castle by Hagrid, who weeps over his seemingly dead body. Lord Voldemort continues to terrorize the survivors of the Battle, but his powers have no hold on him.

-Neville proceeds to kill Nagini with the Sword of Gryffindor, which being emdowed with basilisk venom, destroys Voldemort’s last horcrux.

-The battle recommences, and Harry escapes in all the chaos.

-In a final battle to the death, Harry gives Tom Riddle one last chance to give up Lord Voldemort for good. He refuses, and is killed by his own backfiring Killing Curse.

-Peeves sings a memorable victory song

We did it! We bashed them, wee Potter’s the one! And Voldy’s gone moldy, so now let’s have fun!

Ever Wondered What Harry Potter Would Look Like As A Disney Movie?

Well thanks to Makani over at deviantART your days of wondering are over! Check them out, they’re siriusly awesome!Harry Potter as a Disney Movie

Hogsmeade is the only all-wizarding village in all of Great Britain. It was founded around the same time as Hogwarts by a wizard who was trying to escape persecution from muggles. Harry first visited this quaint little town on September 1st 1991 although he was only in the Hosmeade train station. Harry’s first time visiting the actual village was in in the 1993-1994 school year, despite the fact that he didn’t have permission to visit with the rest of the students in his year and any year above him. Harry used the Marauder’s Map and his Cloak of Invisibility to sneak into the village on multiple occasions, however when the cloak fell off Harry’s head, Draco noticed him and Harry stopped sneaking in and later had permission from his godfather, Sirius Black, to attend the weekend visits to Hogsmeade with his classmates.

Anyway, Hogsmeade is a pretty interesting village, students visiting were able to buy candy from Honeydukes, drink Butterbeer (if you want to make your own see my last post!) from the Three Broomsticks, go to Zonko’s joke shop and so much more!

There is even a recreation of Hogsmeade in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando!

(More information about Hogsmeade can be found here)
